Swaddling sounds that resemble organ, accordion, wind, and more ethereal things, 'Helical Birth' is the result of sudden musical midwifery.

'Helical Birth' applies a dense, almost maximalist approach to a minimalist composition, being based on gradual variations in the textures of a single synthesised instrument.

While not operating in any tradition, the album owes debts to a variety of minimalist pieces, and was more directly inspired by works of Jon Gibson and Jon DeRosa.
